Beach Blanket Babylon is one of those corners of London which upon entering, you never want to leave. It’s more than a bar or a restaurant; it’s a lifestyle, a sophisticated yet edgy club that doesn’t require a membership.

BBB boasts of two distinctly singular venues in both West and East London, both offering a trendy, hip environment to relax in by day over breakfast or lunch, and a vibrant night venue for the well-heeled elite. It’s renowned bar offers the best, first-class Champagnes, wines and cocktails, making BBB a favourite of both locals and international clientele alike.

The Notting Hill location was established in 1990 in an old Georgian Mansion house in the heart of the Royal borough and has since become an institution of the London restaurant, bar and club scene. While the crypt is ideal for small party gatherings, lavish lunches and bucolic dinners, the ballroom fits up to 70 seated guests or Champagne and canapé receptions for up to 130.

Made up of various intimate spaces, the restaurant serves seasonal, modern European cuisine, accompanied by an impressive selection of world wines. Its all day menu includes an excellent duck confit with balsamic pear compote and an exquisite burrata salad served with dried tomatoes, aubergines and pine nuts.

In 2007, following on from the success of the Notting Hill venture, the owners decided to open a sister BBB in the newly happening and fashionable Shoreditch in London’s East End. Occupying several floors, BBB Shoreditch is equally as glamorous. Gone are the swags and tails of Notting Hill in favour of an eclectic, downtown New York style warehouse – over the top, opulent and characteristically cool.

Here, the 70-seat Mezzanine overlooks an imposing marble bar, notorious for its vibrant atmosphere and delicious cocktails. On Fridays or Saturdays guests can head down to the Champagne Lounge for some after dinner drinks and dancing. Both the main floor and lounge can be hired for shoots or filming, and can also be booked for up to 300 guests. The lounge is the perfect spot to relax after dinner, or reserve a table for a decadent evening, in a setting of bohemian splendour, glamour and opulence.
